My Purpose

I want to highlight the Peer Support movement in NC. Yes, it is a movement because it is larger than us. It is more than a profession or title. It is a group of individuals with a fire in their belly to hold up hope. I want to get out of the way and in the days ahead I want to give you a window into the world of peer supports in the following areas:

1/Residential recovery

2/Crisis services

3/Community outreach

4/Vocational placement

5/Educational/Wellness Training

6/Inpatient hospital setting

7/In-Reach/Transition

I want to give these individuals a chance to speak from their lived experiences and answer questions like:

1. What is a typical day for you?
2. How do you define success?
3. What advice would you give a new recruit entering the field?

From this I hope we can glean some hints as to the best practices for each area of specialization. This is a collaborative effort and this blog will be developing and changing. Thanks for joining me in this journey as we take it to the road.
